Ridge Preservation

After a tooth is extracted, the bone begins to shrink.  The end result is bone loss and a depression in the area where the extraction occurred.  With ridge preservation, we can avoid these problems.

At the time of extraction, the socket is filled with “calcium materials”, and covered with a gortex membrane barrier.

This barrier will protect the calcium material and bone by not allowing gum tissue to grow into the extraction area.  The calcium will also allow your own bone to grow in the extraction area.

Your body will begin to cause these materials to resorb and be eliminated over time leaving your own newly grown bone.

Ridge preservation has an extremely high rate of success.  Most of the time the bone lost during extraction will completely regenerate and actually be better than the original bone.

If you have already had a tooth extracted and this procedure was not performed at that time, you may still have this procedure done with a very predictable result.
